ACT for Alexandria has chosen seven local organizations to receive this years ACT Now Fund Grants. This years recipients are ALIVE!, Alexandria Neighborhood Health Services Inc., the Alexandria Coalition for the Homeless, Community Lodgings, CrisisLink, Friends of Guest House and Senior Services of America.

The ACT Now Fund was created to respond to the needs of safety-net nonprofits experiencing a significant financial shortfall due to the recent economic downturn. It specifically helps organizations by providing emergency financial assistance, housing, food, clothing and medical and health assistance. The fund is comprised of donations from individual donors, donor advised funds, Cardinal Bank, CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield and the ACT Community Fund.

The ACT Now Fund will make critical needs grants to nonprofits again in October. As funds are raised, ACT will distribute grants to the organizations in need. For more information on the ACT Now Fund, visit www.actforalexandria.org or call 703-739-7778.
