T.C. Williams track star Tynita Butts wrapped up her Virginia state high jumping career in style, winning the event at a height of 5 feet 10 inches, two inches better than the second place finisher and 2.25 inches off of the all-time record set in 1976.
After an exceptionally strong showing at the Northern Region Competition, the Titan boys sprinters had a much tougher time individually at the state level, missing out on the finals in the 100-meter and 200-meter dashes. However, the boys 4×100-meter relay squad of Rushane Wilson, Reward Asonye, Cortez Taylor and Ayolesi Coker did manage to finish fourth (42.49 seconds) behind Ocean Lakes, Bethel and champion Western Branch the top four teams separated by just 0.28 seconds.
