Gadsbys Tavern Museum is welcoming new volunteers in anticipation of a specialized training program later this month. If you love history or have an interest in sharing local history with visitors, this would be an ideal time to start.
Training for new volunteers will be held on Saturday, June 27, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Gadsbys Tavern Museum, 134 North Royal Street. Training covers information about the museum, basic history and tour techniques. After completing training, volunteers will be able to give tours and assist with public programs including candlelight tours, 18th-century teas, open houses and other special events.
Volunteers are asked to commit to at least one 3-hour tour shift per month, and weekday and weekend shifts are available. Volunteers in ninth grade and older are welcome to apply. Interested parties should contact Michele Longo at 703-838-4242 for additional details and a volunteer application.
