



Vice President Joe Biden is scheduled to speak at the Durant Center in Alexandria Thursday, July 16, at a meeting to discuss health care and issues affecting older members of the countrys middle class.
Biden will lead a conversation with Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius, White House Office of Health Reform Director Nancy-Ann DeParle and Barry Rand, CEO of the AARP discussing how health care reform is intended to lower costs, cut inefficiencies and improve in quality for seniors, according to the Office of the Vice President.
One of the citys recreation departments, the Durant Center is located at 1605 Cameron St. in Old Town. It hosts various community events and is home to the Alexandria Commission for the Arts.
The event is not open to the public.
