In their first action ofthe season last week, the T.C. Williams golf team posted a 792 over two days inthe Servpro Invitational at Twin Lakes golf course to come in 18th out ofa field of 25 teams from across Northern Virginia.

Head coach Dee Marrara saidthat the first tournament of the year was something to build on.

“Overall, I was verypleased,” she said. “For the first time we had all five golfers under100 and it wouldn’t be a stretch to see all five consistently in the mid 80s orlower by the District Tournament.”

Sophomore Garrett Kennedyled the Titans, carding an 82 on day one and a 77 on day two. Centreville’sNoori Hyun took medalist honors for the tournament (67, 71 – 138), beatingWestfield senior Wes Liu in a playoff.

It’s as early as the fallgolf season gets. But more than three weeks before the post-Labor Day start ofschool, Marrara looked to the event as a barometer of the competition.

“Although we didbetter than previously, I know we left some strokes out there,” Marrarasaid.

The Titans also playedWednesday in the Patriot District preview (results unavailable at press time).
