Former T.C. Williams and University of Maryland defensive lineman Dean Muhtadi found out last weekend that he would not be continuing the NFL season as a member of the Green Bay Packers, according to reports.
Muhtadi, 23, signed with the Packers last spring after his name was not called on draft day. The Alexandria native was one of three undrafted rookies to make it through the team’s post-draft mini-camp in April to earn a spot on the 80-man preseason roster.
Although Muhtadi said in May that he knew it would be an uphill battle to make the Packers’ 53-player roster for the regular season, the news was by no means easier to take.
Muhtadi saw action in three of Green Bay’s four preseason games, recording five tackles in the team’s final test against the Tennessee Titans. In 13 games during his senior year at Maryland, he had a hand in 21 tackles and 2.5 sacks, third most on the team.
