Bishop Ireton got back on track last Saturday, winning 17-7 on the road to St. Christophers School in Richmond. Led once again by their defense, the Cardinals held the Saints to less than 150 yards of offense on the hosts homecoming day.

The Cardinals went ahead in the second quarter, just before halftime, on a touchdown pass from Oliver Noon to Mark Holmes. The Saints responded out of the gate in the third quarter, but a 29-yard field goal and 33-yard quarterback keeper from Mike Larrabee proved to be the go-ahead and game-clinching scores.

Also this week, the Alexandria Sportsmans Club named Cardinals playmaker Doug Vines its male athlete of the month. Vines, who has scored a number of different ways for Ireton this season, received the honor at the clubs meeting Tuesday night.

Now 5-2, the Cardinals travel to face Sidwell Friends Saturday for a 2:30 p.m. kickoff.
