Since its beginnings as a colonial seaport, Alexandria has provided the Washington area with unique products. Boutique Week, starting this Saturday and running through Sunday, October 18, allows shoppers to choose from an eclectic assortment of apparel, accessories, handicrafts, home furnishings, gourmet foods and pet treats while enjoying the sights and fall colors of historic Old Town and the diverse neighborhood of Del Ray.

In partnership with the Alexandria Convention and Visitors Association, 50 Alexandria shops will participate in the initiative by offering 25 percent discounts, free gifts and special events. Shoppers visiting at least five participating boutiques will be eligible to win a $1,000 shopping spree and a one-night stay for two at the Morrison House hotel in Old Town.
