Public Invited to Converse with Student Achievement Expert


ACPS is inviting parents and community members to join in Imagine the Titans: Equity and Excellence, a forum featuring Dr. Ronald F. Ferguson, director of the Achievement Gap Initiative at Harvard University. The conversation will address the topic of High Achievement for Each and Every Student: Challenges and Solutions.

Dr. Ferguson, senior lecturer in education and public policy at the Harvard Graduate School of Education, is also an economist and senior research associate at the Malcolm Wiener Center for Social Policy. His most recent book is Toward Excellence with Equity: An Emerging Vision for Closing the Achievement Gap.

ACPS is sponsoring the forum in partnership with the Alexandria NAACP, Concerned Citizens Network of Alexandria, Northern Virginia Urban League, PTA Council of Alexandria and Tenants&Workers United. The event is scheduled to take place October 19 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Charles Houston Recreation Center.
