A limited number of nasal H1N1 flu vaccine doses will be available at the Alexandria Health Department, 4480 King St., on Friday afternoon, November 13, starting at 1 p.m.
This vaccination clinic is focused on providing vaccine to children (including pre-school children). The nasal form of the vaccine can be given to healthy children ages 2 and older, who are not immunosuppressed and do not have asthma.
No injectable vaccine will be available at this site at this time.
In all Alexandria City Public Schools and four private schools (Blessed Sacrament, St. Marys, St. Ritas and Alexandria Country Day School), pre-kindergarten, kindergarten and first-grade students who returned consent forms have received vaccinations. Students in grades two through five at these schools will receive vaccinations beginning later this week. Children in higher grades will receive vaccine once adequate supplies are available.
