=Conklyns Florist has expanded its operation with the recent opening of Middle Atlantic Wholesale Florist, an open-to-the-public warehouse for flowers, plants, supplies, containers and crafts.

We are very excited to offer this new opportunity to our customers, said Conklyns CEO David Hicks at the November 5 grand opening of the Wheeler Avenue location. This will give old and new customers access to exotic flowers, plants and accessories at wholesale prices never before available in this area.

Started in 1938, the Alexandria-based company has locations in the Pentagon and Baltimore in addition to its flagship store on Jefferson Davis Highway.

The retail operation has been named among the top 50 florists in the nation for the past 10 years in a row. The award is one of the most recognized in the industry with more than 36,000 florists competing for the honor.

I am very proud of what we are doing and what David has done in opening this new division of Conklyns, said Mona, Davids mother, who, along with her late husband, built the company over the years before handing over the reigns to her son. I am especially proud of how we have grown along with so many of our employees, some of who have been with us for many years.

Despite the warehouse location and pricing, Hicks said he is as committed as ever to providing the customer service that Conklyns has come to be known for throughout the community, something Mona is especially proud of.
