During their annual retreat outside of Richmond on Friday, House Democrats elected Alexandria Del. David Englin (D-45) the new vice chairman of their caucus.

Democrats are lucky to have strong leaders like David willing to step up to bring us together and move us forward during a challenging time, said House Minority Leader Ward Armstrong (D-10). He is a welcome addition to our senior leadership team.

I appreciate the confidence of my fellow Democratic legislators, and I look forward to rolling up our sleeves and continuing working together to advance our shared vision of a more just and prosperous future for all Virginians, Englin said.

Englin joins the senior leadership team that will manage and set the direction for Democrats in the Virginia House of Delegates over the next two years, filling the vice chair position left open by the retirement of Del. Kris Amundson (D-44).

Englin was elected unanimously by the members present. Englin was not present for the vote because his weekly observance of the Jewish Sabbath precludes other Friday evening activities.
