The Association of School Business Officials International awarded its Meritorious Budget Award to Alexandria City Public Schools for excellence in the preparation and issuance of a 2009-2010 annual budget, the first under current Superintendent Morton Sherman, ACPS announced last Thursday.
ASBO International and school business management professionals designed the budget awards program to help school administrations to achieve excellence in budget presentation, according to an ACPS spokesperson. The program helps school systems build a solid foundation in the skills of developing, analyzing and presenting a budget.
Also last week, the schools announced that Sherman received the Rotary Good Scout Award from the Colonial District of the National Capital Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America. The award presentation took place at the 12th Alexandria Rotary Good Scout Award Luncheon, held in October at Belle Haven Country Club. He received a trophy and certificate, along with an honorary Boy Scout hat and neckerchief in recognition of his service to the Alexandria community.
