ACT for Alexandria awarded 12 local nonprofit organizations a total of $60,000 this week to invest in infrastructure-based programs and organizational needs to increase Alexandria nonprofits effectiveness and sustainability, according to a statement from ACT.
Alexandria Neighborhood Health Services, Inc., ALIVE!, Community Lodgings, First Night Alexandria, Friends of Guest House, Higher Achievement, New Neighbors Education Center, SCAN of Northern Virginia, Senior Services of Alexandria, The Child and Family Network Centers, The Reading Connection and Wesley Housing Development Corporation each received a grant from ACT, which promotes increasing philanthropy and volunteerism for nonprofits serving the city.
We are pleased to continue the vital role of assisting nonprofit providers in our community particularly as they experience increasing requests for service and dwindling resources, said John Porter, ACT executive director.
