Students and parents from Lyles-Crouch elementary school held a Help Haiti bake sale last Saturday at Market Square, where they sold everything from cookies to pumpkin bread to benefit victims of the earthquake in Haiti.
Though some students chose their own way of spelling the Caribbean countrys name Hady was one creative spelling the message was clear to patrons-turned-philanthropists, who often gave more than the $1 cost per item. The sale raised $1,501.73 in one morning.
The group had three boxes of desserts left over, said one parent, so they donated them to the Christ House homeless shelter.
