Vernon up the Potomac and cross the Woodrow Wilson Bridge before reaching the finish line at National Harbor for the Woodrow Wilson Bridge Half-Marathon, sponsored by Burke and Herbert Bank. The race begins at 7:30 a.m. and is limited to 4,000 entries.

Cardinals hoopsters honored

After averaging 18 points per game during the league slate, Bishop Ireton junior Patrick Hanafin was named to the Washington Catholic Athletic Conference’s third team last week in Washington.

Hanifan was joined by his teammate, fellow junior Antonio Rouse, on the all-WCAC honorable mention squad. The two should figure to lead the Cardinals next season, with the team returning more than 80 percent of its offense from this season while having picked up crucial experience against top area competition along the way.

Sarah Baldwin, a senior, was the lone WCAC-honoree (honorable mention) from the girls team for the 2009-2010 season. She led the Cardinals in scoring and 3-pointers, ending the regular season on a high note with a 28-point night at St. Mary’s Ryken. The Alexandria native was a two-year varsity starter.
