At near record pace, the 35th Marine Corps Marathon sold this week out with 30,000 participants registered to run on October 31. The MCM opened to the public on April 7 reaching full capacity in just under six days, marking the third fastest registration.
Year after year, the Marine Corps Marathon continues to grow in popularity and remains the favorite marathon to run, says Rick Nealis, MCM race director.
The Peoples Marathon registered 23,793 runners in the first 24 hours. Runners are participating from all 50 states and more than 40 countries. The fastest MCM registration occurred in 2005, when capacity was reached in 62 hours and 9 minutes.
