


E. Hunt Burke, CEO of Burke and Herbert Bank and Trust, has been elected chairman of the board effective April 1, 2010.
Burke previously served as president and was named CEO of the Bank in July 2009. He succeeds Charles K. Collum who served as Chairman since 2002.
As part of the executive leadership transition, W. Scott McSween joined the bank in July 2009 as president and COO.
The fifth generation of his family to lead the 158-year-old bank, Burke has worked at the bank in a variety of roles since the age of 13 and then as a full-time staff member for 30 years.
“I am honored to assume the role,” Burke said. “This is an exciting time for our bank.We have produced record levels of growth and earnings for two consecutive years, amid challenging times for the banking industry and the economy in general.”
Burke was born andraised in Alexandria, attended Episcopal High School and received his B.A. from George Mason University and graduated with honors from the Graduate School of Bank Management at the University of Virginia.He and his wife of 26 years, Molly, reside in Alexandria with their four daughters.
