Thumbs Up to Alexandrias new Poet Laureate Amy Young, a creative writing teacher at Washingtons Lab School. Youngs job as Poet Laureate is to help create awareness of poetry in the city as well as to help promote literacy. Both are worthy goals.

Thumbs Up to youth sports in our city. Spring is here which means youth sports including baseball, soccer, softball and lacrosse are underway. Last Saturday was Opening Day for the Alexandria Little League, an event that is quintessentially American with kids in uniforms, parading and hoopla. Lets play ball!
