Just one game separates the T.C. WILLLIAMS baseball team from an all-important opening round contest in the Patriot District tournament. And, with a four-game skid going into last nights rescheduled game against West Potomac, a win could provide crucial momentum for the Titans (8-10).
The Titans 15-5 loss to Annandale last Thursday hurt their position in the league, dropping them to sixth ahead of Lee and West Potomac. If the teams maintain position, T.C. would face South County sometime this week in a game that, if won, would extend their season to the Northern Region tournament.
BISHOP IRETON followed up their 14-3 loss to Bishop OConnell on Friday with their fourth win of the season Monday against St. Marys Ryken. The Cardinals (4-21) remain last in the WCAC and faced league-leading St. Johns last night after the Times deadline.
In the IAC, ST. STEPHENS / ST. AGNES beat rival EPISCOPAL on Tuesday afternoon by a score of 6-4.
The win advanced the Saints plan for a repeat championship in the league tournament and means they will face top-seeded St. Albans a team that was undefeated in the IAC regular season today.
Since neither the Maroon nor the Saints are in the state tournament, the loss was the season finale for Episcopal (4-14). Despite a fourth-place regular season finish, a win today for the Saints would put them in the IAC championship game for the second year in a row.
