A rapidly growing movement has made its presence known in Alexandria. Connect113, a company thats part of a larger business trend called coworking, opened its doors last Thursday on Columbus Street in Old Town.
Coworking is a sort of communal approach to traditional office space. Individuals and businesses can work for themselves, but not necessarily by themselves, if they are members at Connect113.
There are a lot of people who work independently, are constantly on the go and require flexibility, said spokesperson Chana Morrow. But they need more than
Wi-Fi connection with coffee.
Connect113 has an Internet and espresso but members can also utilize its conference room, desks, worktables, break rooms, a shower, storage lockers, snacks, mail service, a concierge, fax machine, scanner, copier, HD displays, a full kitchen, conference phones and, interestingly, other people.
Connect113 is more than good work space, its a community where people with different skills and backgrounds can connect and help each other, Morrow said.
