Thumbs Up to my dad on Fathers Day. My dad, as with many WWII vets, did not show much emotion. He was a strong, hard working man. He didnt say much, but through his actions he taught me that with enough effort, I could achieve anything.  He would never say I love you even though I said it to him every time we spoke. On the day before he died, I said, I love you, dad. He replied and I love you. Thats the last time I saw him, but it warms my heart every day.

Thumbs Up to all Alexandria dads on Fathers Day. You give so much to your families and our community every day. You certainly deserve your special day! My father joined the ranks of Alexandria dads this past year when he and my mom moved here. I love you, Dad youre a terrific father!

Thumbs Up to the newly crowned Alexandria lacrosse and baseball champions. The Alexandria Lacrosse 11 and under team defeated Manassas for their league championship. In baseball, Lindsay Cadillac won the majors division title, while Halt, Buzas and Powell took the AAA championship, and Memory Makers claimed the AA crown. Congratulations to all!

Thumbs Up to long-time George Mason and Cora Kelly elementary school music director Keith Perkins who is retiring after 20 years of service in Alexandria City Public Schools.  You influenced countless children that are better off for having been taught by you.
