Heat got you down? How about a little Christmas? An early preview is coming to Old Town next weekend, July 16 through 18.

Union Street will be transformed into a Yule Time fantasy land for the First Annual Christmas in July celebration. It is being co-presented by The Christmas Attic and the businesses of Union Street, with more than 15 retailers between Cameron and Duke streets taking part.

It will also include a variety of festive activities either inside various stores or on the Union strip itself, hosted by community and city organizations.

Participants can take pictures with Summer Santa, enjoy carolers, historical tours, holiday trunk shows, food and wine tasting, childrens storybook time, ornament making, arts and crafts, and bagpipe performances.

Christmas is a magical time for everyone, so why not celebrate it twice a year? said Fay Carter, owner of The Christmas Attic. Its been a difficult time for small businesses and we wanted to partner and creatively work together to design a fun, collaborative summer event.

During the weekend each participating business will have a donation box to collect toys for children living at Carpenters Shelter. There will also be raffle drawings for prizes throughout the weekend with ticket purchase proceeds being donated to the American Cancer Society.
