Gang member gets 27 years for 2009 murder

MS-13 member Eris Ramon Arguera, 21, of Alexandria, was sentenced in Alexandrias U.S. District Court last week to 324 months in prison and five years of supervised release for his role in the July 29, 2009 murder of a pimp on Manor Road.

On April 5, 2010, Arguera pled guilty to conspiring to commit robbery and extortion, and aiding and abetting the use of a firearm during a crime of violence resulting in the death of the pimp, Claros Luna, of Maryland, through the use of a handgun.

The case also involved two other MS-13 gang members, Adolfo Amaya Portillo and Alcides Umaa. Last month, Umaa was sentenced to 240 months in jail for his role. Portillo is to be sentenced on July 30.

According to court documents, the three defendants entered Lunas car demanding extortion payments. After a brief struggle, Arguera and Portillo fatally shot Luna three times, with Arguera shooting Luna in the back after Portillo had shot him in the chest and head.

A citizen of El Salvador, Arguera is in the United States illegally and will be turned over to immigration authorities following his release from prison for deportation proceedings, according to court officials.
