More than a year after the crime took place, Adolfo Amaya Portillo, the final suspect to hear his sentence for the murder of Maryland-based pimp Claros Luna, received 40 years in jail last Friday in U.S. District Court.

Judge Anthony J. Trenga gave Portillo, 27, of Alexandria, 480 months in prison, followed by five years of supervised release, for his role in the July 29, 2009, murder.

On April 30, Portillo pled guilty to the use of a firearm during a crime of violence resulting in death. According to court records, Portillo and two other MS-13 gang members Eris Ramon Arguera and Alcides Umaa posed as potential customers for prostitution and lured Luna and a prostitute to Manor Road.

After meeting the prostitute inside a building, the three led her back to Lunas car. Portillo, armed with a handgun, entered the front passenger door and demanded rent extortion payments from Luna.  

Portillo and Arguera fatally shot Luna three times, with the former firing two of the three fatal shots one to Lunas chest and a second contact wound to Lunas head. 

On July 9, Arguera was sentenced to 27 years in prison. Umaa was sentenced to 20 years on June 4.
