Surrounded by local school children, Alexandria Mayor Bill Euille put his John Hancock on a proclamation ushering in a weeklong celebration of the Constitution Friday afternoon.
Respect this nation, respect the values [of the Constitution], Euille told the third, fourth and fifth graders from Mount Vernon and Samuel W. Tucker elementary schools filling the first and second row of benches in City Council Chambers. Live up to it, each and every day live up to it.
City Council members Alicia Hughes and Frank Fannon as well as several members of the Daughters of the American Revolution joined Euille for the annual tradition.
