Alexandria Aces President Patrick Malone resigned from the local collegiate summer baseball club effective September 3.

    The team, comprised of college and university players from across the nation, is heading into its fourth season in the Cal Ripken Collegiate Baseball League. The Aces play wooden bat baseball at Frank Mann Field in Four Mile Run Park starting again on June 3, 2011.

    Malone thanked friends and supporters in his resignation announcement.

    I leave the ball club with the knowledge that the Aces and the league are both growing in popularity and have a bright future in Alexandria, Malone said.
