Man wanted on malicious wounding, robbery charges

A local man is wanted for allegedly assaulting a 40-year-old homeless man in a wooded area near the intersection of Duke and South Van Dorn streets in August.
Awoken at about 1:15 a.m. on August 15, the homeless man found Marcos Campos, 30, of Alexandria and another woman approaching him. The woman asked the victim to help stop Campos from bothering her, police said.
He suffered severe facial injuries for his effort, officials said. Campos fled the scene and the victim was later treated for non-life threatening injuries at INOVA Fairfax Hospital.
Wanted on malicious wounding and robbery charges, Campos is described as 5-foot-8, 210 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. He is known at homeless camps in the citys West End and has been spotted in the Landmark area. Police consider him extremely dangerous and possibly armed with a knife.
Authorities urge anyone with information about Campos whereabouts to contact Det. Victor Ignacio at 703-519-3491 or Crime Solvers tip line at 703-838-4858.
