Authorities are investigating the September 12 theft of a 2005 Chevrolet Corvette later found by Bowie police damaged by fire. 
    
The victim left the sports car in the parking lot of a restaurant in the 600 block of South Pickett St. about midnight and originally thought the Corvette was towed, police said. About 3:02 p.m., he called authorities and reported it stolen.
    
Maryland authorities found the car, suffering from fire damage, the same morning.
