The man police say is responsible for robbing a Virginia Commerce Bank on Prince Street Friday evening remains on the run.
Donning a black cap, dark gray sweatshirt and black jeans, the unidentified suspect walked into the squat brick and mortar Old Town building about 5:45 p.m., handed a bag to the teller and demanded cash.
Officials originally reported the slim built man brandished a handgun during the holdup, but authorities now say he implied having a weapon by keeping his hand in his pocket.
Described as 5-foot-9 black man, the suspect fled the bank with an undisclosed amount of cash. No one was injured and the robbery remains under investigation.
Fridays heist was the second this year, according to Jody Donaldson, police department spokesman. The BB&T bank on South Van Dorn Street was robbed April 22, he said.
