Police dont believe the individual wanted for a November morning smash and grab was looking for a firearm, but ended up with one anyway.

The suspect broke the left side door window of the victims vehicle, parked on the 1100 block of Duke St., about 7:10 a.m. on November 23 and came away with a fanny pack. Authorities later learned a .22 caliber pistol, a magazine and several rounds of ammunition were inside the pouch.

Jody Donaldson, department spokesman, said it was unlikely the suspect knewthe fanny pack held a weapon. The crime is considered a smash and grab and police have no leads or suspects, he said.
