Alexandrian Brian Moran, former state delegate and gubernatorial candidate, took the reins of the state Democratic Party committee from outgoing chairman Dick Cranwell earlier this month.
Moran, brother of Democratic U.S. Congressman Jim Moran (D-8), vowed to solidify the partys majority in the State Senate while expanding their reach in the House of Delegates.
Moran has since blasted Republican Gov. Bob McDonnells transportation plan and Attorney General Ken Cuccinellis remarks against a provision of the Voting Rights Act requiring Virginia, among other southern states, to submit redrawn legislative districts to the federal government for approval.
