The Alexandria City Council may be pretty powerful locally, but it might take more than a proclamation to ensure good weather this New Years Eve.
    
Regardless, Vice Mayor Kerry Donley declared December 31, 2010, Fair Weather Day in hopes the Alexandria First Night celebration will go smoothly particularly by attracting visitors.
    
Every year we offer our best wishes for a fair weather, Donley said. We want to have good weather because we want to make sure its a success.
    
This years First Night celebration will feature 17 indoor venues and a finale thats something never witnessed in Alexandria before, said co-organizer Charlotte Hall. It will feature live music, video and pyrotechnics at the Masonic temple, she said.
