Ireton outmuscles city rivals


A three-way tie for first knotted up last years Alexandria City Duals wrestling tournament. This year, Ireton put an end to the tie by soundly defeating T.C. Williams, St. Stephens and St. Agnes, and Episcopal.
Against the Titans, the Cardinals won 49-26 behind nine individual match wins, with four by pin-fall. In the second match of the day, Ireton was able to retain their No. 1 ranking by winning eight matches with four pins yet again against No. 2 Episcopal, 39-27. 
In the final match of the day, the Cardinals took down the Saints 46-27. Setting the pace for the victory was six different pin falls including one in 36 seconds to help Ireton become sole champion of Alexandria for the next year.
