Mayor Bill Euille began Tuesdays city council meeting solemnly, reading a prayer in memory of those killed and wounded when a gunman opened fire on a crowd January 8.

I think its a time where we have an opportunity not only to sit back and reflect, but also to think about whats wrong in our country and our nation, and what we as a people united can do to make things better, Euille said.

The mayor read A Prayer for Mankind before leading a moment of silence.
