Police are investigating the alleged harassment of a local teenage girl in the woods behind Douglas MacArthur Elementary School more than a week ago.
The 13-year-old was walking home on a wooded path when a man described as Hispanic and in his 20s approached her about 3:54 p.m., February 22, according to the girls mother, who spoke on the condition of anonymity.
He threatened to grab her and used lurid sexual terms, the mother said. She fled home unharmed and the man did not follow. He was wearing a navy blue sweatshirt and jeans at the time and did not speak with an accent, according to the mother.
Authorities later combed the woods with dogs, she said. Police officials confirmed they are investigating, but did not have any updates on the case as of March 1.
