Aces catcher goes pro

Former Alexandria Aces catcher is one step closer to the big leagues after signing with the Pecos League of Professional Baseball Clubs Roswell Invaders.

Joey Friedman, who protected the plate during the Aces 2008 season, inked the deal with the New Mexico outfit on May 7. He played in his first game as an Invader a week later, batting one for three against the Ruidoso Osos.
A native of Virginia, Friedman joins two teammates from the Aces first season and three other former Cal Ripken Collegiate Baseball League graduates on the professional circuit.
