Officials want to delay 6,400 federal employees from occupying the Department of Defense high-rises coming to completion in Alexandria’s Mark Center neighborhood, but City Attorney Jim Banks isnt sure legal action is the best course.
Rep. Jim Moran (D-8) sent letters to regional leaders asking them to consider suing for an injunction against the DoD following a report claiming it cut corners when planning the Pentagon annex.
While there is potential action for the city government to take, I believe that the ability for the City of Alexandria to mount a successful even a vaguely successful case is limited, Banks said.
Fairfax County officials wont move forward with legal action, hampering the chances of a successful class action injunction, according to Banks.
City council members met in an executive session behind closed doors to discuss other options on Monday.
