St. Stephens and St. Agnes junior lacrosse goalie Katie Wiseman held off a potent Georgetown Visitation squad en route to a Saints Independent School League championship Monday.
Wiseman made 13 saves in the 8-5 victory, allowing the high-octane Saints offense a chance to overcome an early deficit and close out their 17th consecutive ISL title. Leading 6-4 before halftime, the SSSAS squad got a boost from Carly Reed and teammate Michele Phillips, who scored early in the second half.
When the two teams met during the regular season, the Saints crushed Georgetown Visitation in an 18-5 rout. The Saints now turn to Virginia Independent Schools Athletic Association tournament play.
