An early morning collision with a trash truck at the intersection of Van Dorn Street and Taney Avenue left a motorcyclist dead Thursday, police say. 


The truck, heading north on Van Dorn Street, struck the motorcycle after taking a right turn onto Taney Avenue about 7:07 a.m., officials said. Authorities arrived soon after and pronounced the victim dead at the scene. 
    
The fatal accident remains under investigation by the police departments crash reconstruction team. Authorities have released few details about the accident and are withholding the victims identity until a next of kin is notified.  
    
The truck drive isnt facing any charges, though that could change pending on the investigations outcome, which could take up to several weeks to finish, said Ashley Hildebrandt, department spokeswoman.
