Open window gives burglar inside access

A Knole Court resident lost electronics and jewelry after a thief used an open bedroom window to break into the West End apartment May 25.

Though the front and rear doors were locked, the unidentified suspect was able to remove the window screen and slip into the 3500 block apartment, police said.

Gone are the victims digital camera, a Nintendo DS and several necklaces, authorities said.

There were no witnesses and police are unsure when the crime occurred. The victim reported the burglary about 4:45 p.m., authorities said. They do not have a description of the suspect.

Residents are reminded to keep their doors and windows locked at all times, said Ashley Hildebrandt, department spokeswoman.
