City police urge residents to secure their vehicles after thieves made off with an iPod Nano left overnight in an unlocked vehicle parked along the 300 block of N. Alfred St. on July 15.
The theft was reported about noon the next day, according to police reports. The suspects also damaged the ignition switch in an attempt to steal the vehicle, said Ashley Hildebrandt, department spokeswoman.
When the auto theft attempt apparently failed, the suspects stole the Apple device from the vehicles glove box and fled, she said.
Authorities do not have suspect descriptions and have not yet made any arrests. Police remind city residents to lock their vehicles at all times.
