Bishop Iretons varsity cheerleading squad had a reason to celebrate earlier this month, earning the first-place trophy at the annual Universal Cheerleading Association camp competition at W.T. Woodson High School.

For the fourth consecutive year, the Cardinals dominated their rivals in the competition, held the weekend of August 15. The squads learned and practiced stunts and cheers during the opening two days of camp before putting their new routines to the test. 

The Ireton girls won the camp spirit award for the fourth straight year as well. Cardinals Christine Snyder, Haley Silvers, Lizzy Spooner and Niki Morris also were selected as UCA all-stars.
