Gunfire rang out in North Del Ray Wednesday night after an argument between two friends escalated and the shooter remains at large, Alexandria police say.
Authorities have released few details about the incident, but department spokeswoman Ashley Hildebrandt said no one was injured in the 8:30 p.m. incident. The two men were near the intersection of Mount Vernon Avenue and Kennedy Street which straddles the border between Del Ray and Arlandria when the altercation began, she said.
Why the two were arguing remains unknown, but police say the suspect fired multiple shots the exact number has not been released before fleeing. Officials dont yet know the make and model of the firearm.
Officers went after the suspect, but were unable to catch him, Hildebrandt said. They have not released a description of the shooter.
Detectives are investigating the incident, she said.
