Former state Sen. Patsy Ticer might be out of politics, but she’s not out of the public eye. The longtime Alexandrian will serve as the annual Scottish Christmas Walk’s grand marshal.
When the kilt tartans come out for the 41st rendition of the city tradition December 3, Ticer will be leading the rolling display of Scottish heritage. More than 120 Scottish clans, dancers, re-enactors and local dignitaries will participate in the annual parade, a joint venture between the city, Campagna Center, St. Andrew’s Society and the Scottish government.
“It is a special pleasure for me, as a longtime admirer and sometimes participant in an organization which has served Alexandria’s families and children so well since the days when it was still the Alexandria Y, and I was a young mother,” said Ticer, who announced her retirement from politics earlier this year.
