How thieves broke into a locked vehicle parked on the 4300 block of Raleigh Ave. on the final day of November remains a mystery, say Alexandria police.
Authorities believe the thieves struck overnight. The vehicle’s owner discovered the break-in about 6:54 a.m., when he also found the thieves had made off with his cellular phone and reading glasses.
Police don’t know what prompted the thieves to take the glasses, said department spokesman Ashley Hildebrandt.
Authorities did not release a description of the area where the motorist left his vehicle, but said there is no surveillance footage of the incident. The thefts remain under investigation.
