A federal employee was robbed of his government issued laptop and identification badge after thieves broke into his vehicle earlier this month.

Alexandria police say the suspects forced their way into the vehicle by smashing the left rear window between 7 and 9:30 p.m. January 11. After getting inside, the thieves made off with the badge and a bag containing the laptop, said Ashley Hildebrandt, police department spokeswoman.

The vehicle was left on the 3800 block of King St. Authorities do not know whether it was parked on the street, in a driveway, garage or lot. There were no witnesses and police do not have suspect descriptions, Hildebrandt said.

Officials did not specify the federal entity that issued the laptop and badge.
