Thieves took advantage of a 5400 block Bradford Court resident’s attempt to air out his apartment for an early evening burglary on January 4.
After opening his front door, the victim retreated to his bedroom for a short while, said Ashley Hildebrandt, Alexandria Police Department spokeswoman. During that time, the thieves snuck in and made off with a NOOK reader, camcorder and digital camera as well as the victim’s house and car keys.
It was a crime of opportunity, Hildebrandt said.
The victim reported the thefts at 6 p.m. He did not see or hear the intruders, but the stolen goods were still present when he went into the bedroom, according to authorities.
Police have not made an arrest and do not have suspect descriptions, Hildebrandt said.
