A thief left a vehicle parked on the 1400 block of Roundhouse Lane with minor damage after breaking in and stealing loose change late last month.
City police don’t know how the thief got inside — the vehicle was locked — but said the suspect made off with coins stored in the console. Though the time of the incident also is unknown, the owner reported the break-in at 1:19 p.m. December 27.
There were no witnesses, said Ashley Hildebrandt, department spokeswoman. Police did not release the sum of the coins stolen.
Nothing else was missing from the vehicle, according to Hildebrandt.
Authorities recommend residents keep their vehicles locked at all times and, if possible, park in well-lit, well-traveled locations. They also urge residents to refrain from leaving valuables in their vehicles.
