Project Discovery students will observe Earth Day by hosting the Mother Earth Knows Best Fair, featuring booths and activities to educate the public on environmental issues, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 19, at Chinquapin Park, 3210 King Street. Highlights include a quiz show about Eco-Myth Busters and Factoids; maps of shifting snow belts, glacier shrinkage, rising sea levels and ocean currents; the benefits of buying local versus factory-farmed foods; a tour of the veggie-mobile (a car that runs on vegetable oil); and much more. Project Discovery, a program within the Alexandria Department of Human Services, Office of Youth Services, assists low-income and/or first-generation students in entering and completing college.
